  1. Introducing the Casio G-Shock 810B Series

Introducing, the Casio G-Shock, GA-810B Series

Welcome back to our blog. Last week, I introduced you to the GA710B series, and today I’ll be reviewing the GA-810B watches from Casio. This series actually came about based on how popular the GA-710s were, thanks to its golden makeover (for the GA710B review, click here). Ready to see what the fuss is about? Let’s get to it!

    ga-810b-1a4

First up is the GA-810B-1A4. The black band, bezel and buttons are offset by the illuminator button (rose gold metallic in colour), as well as the rose gold hour markers. This makes the analogue display shine, and grabs your attention right away. Even the gears controlling the hand have been glammed up. Because the hands and hour markers have thickened up considerably, that makes it easier to tell the analogue time.

    ga-810b-1a9_1

Then we have the GA-810B-1A9. This is the perfect watch if you dislike negative displays, as the numbers are large and on a regular screen. The numbers and text on the GA810B series are actually a lot larger, so even if you have bad eyesight, you’ll still be able to tell the digital time. The hands, illuminator button and hour markers are gold, and very thick, for easy readability of the analogue time.

So, let’s talk about some of the features. As part of the GA800 series, the GA810B has a step tracker/pedometer. This is a tool that’s essential if you’re into exercise, because not only will it tell you how many steps you’ve taken, you can program it with a specific goal in mind, and it will sound an alarm if you haven’t reached it within a specific amount of time. You can also use the stopwatch to time how long it too you to reach this goal, and save up to 120 records for later (that way you’ll be able to chart your progress).

The great thing about the GA-810 series is the Super Iluminator. That’s because unlike most analogue/digital combos, this new breed of watch can light up both the analogue and the digital part (which has always been a requested feature in these watches).

Another cool feature, which will benefit people who like to travel, is the dual time. This lets you, at the press of a button, swap between the time in your home city, and the time where you are now. If you’ve ever called somebody not realising it was 4 am there, you know just why this function is necessary!

  2. Introducing the Casio G-Shock 710B Series

Introducing the Casio G-Shock 710B Series

Welcome back to the blog! A while back, Casio decided to experiment with the GA-710 series, to make it look more eye catching. They came up with the GA710, which had metallic blue, silver and gold buttons, hands and hour markers. With the response being overwhelmingly positive, Casio went further, and gave us the GA710B series, as well as the 810B (which will be covered later). Ready to see what makes these watches tick? Here we go!

    GA-710B-1A4

First up is the GA710B-1A4. This watch has a completely black band, bezel and buttons, except for the backlight button, which is in a metallic rose gold. Inside the display the rose gold motif continues, with the hands and hour markers, as well as the feature display also being a rose gold colour. The digital part has a negative display, which is light numbers on a black background.

    GA-710B-1A9

If you’re not a fan of this sort of display, then you’ll want the GA710B-1A9. Now, at first glance, it looks very similar to the GA-710GB-1A (both are black with a gold motif), however, while the 710GB had a gold backdrop surrounding the display, the GA710B gets rid of that feature, leaving more room inside the display to see the time. Best of all, it’s got a regular display, so if the black one is hard for you to read, you won’t have such problems with this model.

So what are some of the features of the GA710B series? Well, first up it’s got what’s known as a super illuminator. This feature lights up both the analogue and digital screens, so at night you can read both screens. The thick hands and hour markers mean that analogue is easily seen, and getting rid of the metallic backdrop let Casio increase the size of both the Analogue and Digital display (making it easier to read).

While the digital display is pretty big, due to the size of the analogue hands, they can sometimes obscure the digital time. There’s an easy solution though, because this watch has a hand shift feature. This will move the analogue hands back to default (12 0’clock) letting you easily see the digital time. Once you’re done, press the Mode button, and the hands will return not just to where they were, but where they would have been had you not turned on the hands shift feature!

One of the best features of the GA710B is the direct start stopwatch. Basically, you no longer need to go searching through the menus for the stopwatch, just press the button and be ready to run (or time your friends). This stopwatch has a new trick too, called the target time alarm. If you’re getting ready for a race (or even if you’re doing practice VCE Exams), you can set the stopwatch to a specific length of time. If you’re unable to do what you set out to do, the target time alarm rings. Having this will definitely help you improve.

The GA-710B series is now out at BuyWatchesOnline! Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  3. Introducing the Citizen Promaster Diving Watch, the BN0194-57E

Introducing the Citizen Promaster Diving Watch, the BN0194-57E

There are lots of watches out there that are water resistant, but only a few are certified and meet ISO Specifications. Lucky for you, the Promaster series is one of them. Whether you like surfing, or work on a ship/ferry, the BN0194-57E is not only tough, but looks good. Let me tell you a little bit about some of the features. Ready? Here We Go!

    bn0194-57e

First up, this model is entirely stainless steel, from case, to band and bezel. Said band is a mix of silver and gold, while the bezel is black and gold. The hands and hour markers are white and gold, as well as very thick, which makes them easily seen on the black display.

Apart from the case, the watch has a gold screw lock crown, with the bezel itself looking like the gears on a clock. Altogether, the watch looks really impressive on your wrist, even without getting into some of the special features.

Now, as mentioned, the watch is a certified diving watch. This means it's able to withstand up to 200m of water pressure. If you're swimming in the ocean, you might be worrying about the seawater, but the stainless steel case and bracelet are durable enough to prevent any corrosive damage, so your watch will function perfectly.

The bezel itself also serves a function apart from looking good. Before starting a dive, you can rotate the bezel so the 12 o'clock position is in sync with the time that you submerge yourself. This way, when you're underwater, you'll know exactly how long you've been swimming, and when to start making your way back in order to make sure you don't run out of oxygen!

The screw lock crown mentioned earlier, also serves an important function. You need to make sure it's screwed in shut before you dive in, because it keeps the water from getting into the gears. So no fiddling with it when you're down there!

Apart from being a diving watch, the BN0194-57E is also an Eco-Drive, which means it will keep running for up to 180 days before you need to charge it up. Charging it is very simple too - just expose it to light (whether sunlight or electrical). You'll have plenty of warning though, since the second hand will start skipping seconds when it's close to low battery power.

The BN0194-57E is out now. Click here for our other Citizens in stock! Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  4. Dress to Impress, with the Citizen Metal AW1240-57L Watch

Dress to Impress, with the Citizen METAL AW1240-57L

First impressions can make or break that all important meeting (whether an interview, or a date), so you need to look your best. That's where the Citizen METAL Series comes in. Welcome to our blog and today, I'll be talking about the AW1240-57L. Ready? Here We Go!

    aw1240-57l_1

Right from the start, you'll notice this watch looks sleek. That's because, unlike a lot of others, this time piece isn't stainless steel. The whole thing is made up of titanium! Now, that may make it a little heavier than most, but it also means the watch is a lot harder to damage.

That durability also extends to the display, which is protected by a scratch resistant sapphire glass. The dial is a dark blue, and looks great on your wrist.

This is a completely analogue model, with a basic design. The hour markers, as well as hands are very easy to see due to them being extra thick, and there's also a date dial at the 3 o'clock marker.

Part of the Eco-Drive models, the watch is powered by light (any sort of light, not just sunlight), so you won't have to worry about changing the batteries for a long time. This model is also water resistant to 100m, so as long as you don't press any buttons while submerged, you can go swimming with the watch, without worrying about it getting stolen or damaged!

The AW1240-57L is out now. For our other Citizens, click here.

    ga-700se-1a2

    6) DW-5600DE-2 - This watch gives a makeover to the ever popular, classic DW5600 series. With some people not liking the way resin looks, Casio came up with a denim pattern. While the band is still resin, on the wrist it looks like a denim fabric that will match all your denim wear.

    gw-9400-1_l

    2) GA-800-1A - Another athletic watch, the GA-800 cleans up the display to ensure that only the most relevant functions and dials are visible. As with the 700SE series, both the analogue and digital screens are backlit making it easy to see the time at night. The watch also allowes you to save your laps, and gives you a memory for 120 lap times (double most other watches which can only remember 60).

    ga-800-1a

    1) GBA-800-4A - Appropriately enough, this being close to Halloween, the top watch is an orange GBA-800-4A. Now, unlike the GBA400, this model is actually geared towards fitness. It has a step tracker combined with a 3-axis step count graph to make sure you're actually walking instead of moving your hands around. To help with your progress, the watch also has a Calorie Counter.

  6. Summer Highlight: The Casio Baby-G BA-110CF Series

Summer Time, it can get REALLY hot, and all you want to do is go sunbaking. Well, Casio has you covered with the rerelease of the Baby-G BA110CF series! Even better, we've got them in stock and ready for you! Want to see what all the fuss is about? Let's get to it!

First up is the BA-110CF-1A. This is mostly black, but with blue flowers throughout the band. Now, these flowers are blue, so if you go on vacation in Hawaii, and you're a guy, you can also wear the watch without being embarrassed.
    ba-110cf-1a
Under the mineral glass, the hands and hour markers are extra thick, and a mixture of black and grey, which makes them easily seen on the light blue background, so you're able to see the analogue time. The digital display is also well lit, with the day in the top window, and time at the bottom.

Then we have the BA110CF-7A. Now, while the black watch could have passed for a boy's model, the white and pink BA-110CF-7A is definitely for the girls. As mentioned, it's mostly white, with the band being covered by both pink flowers as well as grey ones for some variety.
    ba-110cf-7a
The display is extra-large letting you see both the analogue and digital display. The analogue hands are thick and black, while the hour markers are white, all on a pink background, which will draw your eyes and make it easier to see the analogue time. The digital display is identical to the 110CF-1A so you shouldn't have any problems reading the time.

So that's what the watches look like, but how do they perform? Well, let's find out!

Now, as you may have guessed by the model number, the BA110CFs are a version of the BA-110 series, and they keep all of the essential functions. First off, the hands and hour markers are covered with a neobrite solution, so if it gets too dark, press the backlight button, and the hands and hour markers will start glowing even after the backlight turns off.

The BA-110CF series is one of the most lightweight models, weighing only 45g, so they're easy on your wrist, and won't weigh you down when you run/jog. They're also 100M water resistant, so you can swim with them as long as you don't press any buttons while you're submerged.

Unlike my previous columns, these watches aren't coming soon, they already HERE! So click here for the 110CF-1A and here for the 110CF-7A

  7. Introducing the Casio G-Shock Rasta Series

Casio watches are enjoyed worldwide, so it's little wonder that there are models specifically based on either popular cultures, races or even collaborations you'd never think you'd see (Looking at you Big Mac G-Shock)... Welcome to the preview column, and today we'll be highlighting the G-Shock Rasta Series, based on the vibrant Rastafarian community and Jamaican culture. Ready? Let's get to it!

    dw-5600cma-9

First up is the DW-5600CMA-9D. Based on the classic DW-5600 series, this is a vibrant digital watch. The band is a mixture of Red, Yellow and Blue, a parallel to the colourful culture. Inside the display, the numbers are extra-large, making it easy to read the time.

Next, sticking with the digital theme, we have the 5600CMB-1. This is a darker model, with the bright colours reserved for the inside of the band (a bright, sky blue). As with the 9D, this watch is fully digital, making it perfect for those with lousy eyesight, or those of you who just want a retro, classic looking watch.

    dw-5600cmb-1

Moving on from the classics, we have the GA400CM series, starting with the GA-400CM-1A. This series takes its design from the GA400CM series, incorporating some of the cool features developed there (which we'll talk about later on). With regards to the looks, the outside is grey/black, with a mixture of red, yellow and blue sprinkled throughout, and a bright neon red on the inside of the band. This is an analogue/digital combo, with an extra-large display so you can read the screen easily. The digital display is what's known as a Negative Screen, which means the numbers are light, while the screen is dark.

    ga-400cm-1a

Finally, we have the GA-400CM-4A, which is a mixture of salmon red, yellow, as well as a sky blue inside the band. The analogue hands are a mixture of blue and red, while the hour marks are bright yellow, which will really help when reading the analogue part of the watch. If you weren't a fan of the negative display, you can breathe a sigh of relief, because the 4A has a regular display.

    ga-400cm-4a

So, that's the looks done, let's talk features! First up, let's look at the 5600CM series.

Now, I've already mentioned that the watches are fully digital. What I haven't mentioned is why it's so important. See, with an ana/digi combo, some people complain that the backlight only lights up the analogue hands, while they want to read the digital display. With a fully digital screen, you when you press the backlight button, the entire screen lights up, making it easier to read the time whether at night, or in the afternoon if there's glare hitting the display.

Another interesting feature of the 5600 series is the auto repeat function. That means, you can set your alarm to always start beeping at the exact same time every day (helpful if you need to take meds.

Moving on to the GA400CM as mentioned that's got quite a few tricks up its sleeve. You notice that rotary switch on the right? That's for those of you who don't like pushing the mode button all the time in order to get to the right function. Simply move the switch up or down to quickly get to your desired function.

Another cool feature is the hand shift. Basically, if your nalogue hands start blocking the digital display, simply use the hand shift feature to move them away, so you can read the digital window. Once you're done, simply turn that feature off, and the hands will move back to where they were supposed to be.

There you have it. The Rasta series is coming soon, to BuyWatchesOnline.

Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  8. Going Retro With the Casio Baby-G BA110NR Series

Ladies and Gentlemen, cast your minds back to the good old 90s! When Casette tapes were still all the rage, and aliens could be killed by uploading a virus into their computers (Oops! Independence Day Spoilers). It's these happy times that Casio is hoping you'll remember, when you see the BA110NR Baby-G series. Let's take a closer look at these two models!

First up, we've got the BA-110NR-1A. This groovy watch is black, with orange writing above the buttons (apart from Baby-G, which is white). said buttons are extra-large making them easy to press at night when you don't have much light.

    BA-110nr-1a

Inside the display, it's even more colourful. the hands are gold and orange, the hour markers are thick and green, while the analogue background is a mixture of light and dark blue. All in all, it's a watch that's pretty much impossible to lose!

Then we've got its polar opposite, the grey BA-110NR--8A. This one is grey with pink writing. inside the display you have pink hour markers, pink and grey halnds and gears, and a bluish pink analogue outline.

    BA-110NR-8A

These watches are based on the GA-110 series, so the display and case are a bit larger than average, without being too oversized. They're analogue/digital so if you have trouble seeing the analogue hands, just look at the digital display, and vice versa.

So, now that you've got a visual in your head, let's talk about the features.

Well, first off, you know it's a Casio, so it's extra-tough! you have shock resistance in case you drop the watch, and if you like swimming, keep the watch on and dive up to 100m. As long as you don't press any buttons while you're submerged, the watch can handle pretty much anything!

There have been people concerned with the visibility of the hands, especially when it's late at night. Well, let me put those fears to rest. The analogue hands and hour markers are covered in a substance called Neobrite, which glows when it comes into contact with light. So simply turn on the backlight for a few seconds, and even after it's turned off, you'll still be able to see the analogue display.

If you've got a busy schedule every day, one of the things you'll absolutely love is the 5 daily alarms. You can set them to go off at specific times of day so you'll be reminded if you need to go to a meeting, or take medications, you can program up to five tones for each occasion.

Time to get Jiggy With it! The BA110NR series is coming soon to BuyWatchesOnline

  9. Layers of Colour Add Some Fun to the Casio G-Shock GA-110LN Series!

Layers of Colour Add Some Fun to the GA-110LN Series!

The GA-110 series has grown by leaps and bounds since being introduced to the world. There are a lot of different styles, and now I have the pleasure of introducing one more. I am, of course, talking about the GA-110 Layer Series.

These watches were designed not just to look good, but to make sure they’re hard to lose (let’s face it, the darker watches, if you drop them, they may be impossible to find). With how bright the inside of the bands are, that mission has definitely been accomplished. So let’s have a look at the GA110LN series.

    ga110ln-1a

First up we’ve got the GA-110LN-1A. It’s black with a neon blue wristband. The mesh of colours stand out on your wrist, so you’re bound to attract attention. An interesting addition is the digital numbers are also blue.

    GA110LN-2A

Our next watch in the series is the GA-110LN-2A. A dark blue band on the outside can almost be mistaken for black, with the inside a bright, sunny yellow. The  hands and digital display are also fluorescent Yellow, making it really easy to tell both the analogue and digital time in pretty much any light condition.

    ga-110ln-3a

Lastly, we have the GA110LN-3A. At first glance, it looks like something you could take into the woods (or basic training) as it’s an olive green. Don’t worry about losing the watch though, as inside the band it’s bright orange, again just like the hands. The digital display is also a dark orange on a black background.

As with the GA-110 Series, the 110LNs have an extra large analogue/digital display, with the digital part being split into two (day at the top, time at the bottom). This makes it easier to read the display, and allows the numbers to be a lot larger. The above mentioned colour coded hands attract attention and help people with eye problems read the time. Speaking of the hands, they actually glow when you turn on the backlight, so even if you’re out at night, you’ll still be able to easily tell the analogue time.

Another great feature that’s been a favourite in the GA-110 Series, is the 1/1000-sec Stop Watch. Considered one of the most accurate in the world, it not only lets you time yourself to the 1/1000th of a second, it also gives you an estimated speed, which is an amazing training tool.

If you’re around electronics, you should know that magnetic waves can affect the accuracy of most watches. However, the GA110LN has its predecessor’s magnetic resistant features, so unless you’re around industrial strength magnets, your watch will function with no issues.

The GA110LN series is out now. For more in the GA-110 Range, click here.

Until Next Time - Jimmy B.

  10. Taking the Casio G-Shock GA-800 Sneaker Series for a Run!

Taking the GA-800 Sneaker Series for a Run!

You gotta strike while the iron is hot, and that’s what Casio is doing with the GA-800SC series. This spinoff from the GA800 keeps the features you loved in the GA-800 and adds some exciting new colours. Considering the GA-800, like the 500 and 700 series are running watches, this latest design is here to match your sneakers and trainers. Ready to see what the fuss is about? Let’s get started!

    GA-800SC-2A

So first up we have the GA800SC-2A. As you can see, it’s a dark blue, with some splashes of yellow. The second hand, the inner G-Shock logo, and the button below the display are all bright yellow. The digital display is black with white numbers and letters, while the analogue hour markers and hands are extra-thick to enhance readability.

    ga-800sc-6a

Next there’s the GA-800SC-6A. As you can see it’s mostly purple with an orange button, second hand and inner G-Shock logo. The outer logo is purple to match the band.

    GA-800SC-7A

Last, you’ve got the white and lime green GA-800SC-7A model. Guaranteed to match with most sneakers, this watch is almost pure white, with splashes of green in the inner analogue display.

Alright, we’ve discussed the looks, but what exactly can this series do?

First up, let’s handle the negative display. Now, some people may dislike those types of models, saying they’re hard to read, but that’s where the Dual LED Light comes in handy. Unlike the earlier ana/digi combos, the GA-800 series lights up both the analogue and digital screen, making it easy to see the time no matter the light conditions.

Next is a really cool dual time feature. Now, I gotta admit, I’d never even heard of a digital dual time, since usually dual time is used with two analogue displays. Here though, there’s an option to set a different timezone on the digital screen, and then swap them around with the press of a button. It’s also quite useful in letting you know whether it’s AM or PM overseas (as opposed to an analogue dual time display).

Being a watch made for athletes, Casio decided to go with a lap memory function. Unlike previous watches though, the memory size has doubled so you can save 120 laps into your memory. A great way to check your progress and see what needs to improve!

As with the GA-500 and 700 series, The stopwatch is easy to get to – all you need to do is press one button and you’ll be in the stopwatch timing mode. Much quicker than having to go through all the different modes this watch has.

Well, there you have it. The GA-800SC series will be making its way to us in the very near future. In the meantime, check out the GA-500, GA-700, and GA-710.
