  1. Top Reasons WHY You Need a G-Shock in Your Life!

I'll let you in on a little secret - before I was a blog writer, I did my time as a customer service rep, and one of the questions people loved to ask - WHY do I really need what you're selling? Well, that is a very good question, and I've compiled a list that should help you make up your mind! Ready? Here We Go!

Toughness! That word does get thrown around a lot, but what does it really mean? Well according to Casio themselves, their watches are built to last! I was in the gym a couple of years back (before this pandemic hit), and I banged my wrist on the wall. OUCH! Do NOT recommend! But the amazing thing was, my GSTS-110-1A was still ticking along, working normally! Even swimming didn't hurt it (though I do have to remember not to press any buttons while submerged or wet)
    .gst-s110-1a_l

Tons of features! This one is a bit hard to categorize because there are watches here for anything you need. The two most popular ones are the Rangeman and the Mudmaster. These are basically the Leatherman of watches in that they have a feature for any situation you find yourself in!
    gw-9400-1_l gwg-1000-1a

Futureproof - Oh yes that is definitely something that's needed. With technology evolving so quickly, Casio seems to be one of the few that's staying on top of its game! They have watches that are not only solar powered (so you don't have to worry about changing batteries) but some that can measure your steps, while others are perfect for surfers, thanks to the tide graph feature.
    gba-800-8a

Trendsetters! Yes these watches aren't only worn by the average Joe, people like EMINEM, The Undertaker, all sorts of celebrities proudly wear their Casio watches on their wrists! Check out this earlier article spotlighting just a few watches that celebrities wear!

Accurate - Now, I know what you're thinking, "shouldn't that be every watch??" And that's a good point. However, I'm not just talking about telling the time. There are watches that Casio came up with, which use a 1/1000-sec Stopwatch. These stopwatches are so accurate, that judges at the Olympics use them when timing athletes! If they're good enough for the Olympics, you'll definitely find them great!
    ga-100-1a2_l_6

Stylish! This one should be self explanatory. The watches Casio brings out will fit in on your wrist, and some may make you the subject of envy among your friends! There are camouflage watches, Stainless Steel watches, every few months, Casio comes out with crossover watches as well! Basically, you're spoiled for choice!

Handy for Survival - Yes, it may be hard to believe, but these watches can save your life! The Rangeman and Mudmaster that we mentioned before have a compass, which can help you navigate your way back into civilisation if you've gotten lost! Weather resistant, water resistant, shock resistant, no matter what situation you find yourself in, a G-Shock will most likely help you get out of it!

I hope this article helped you make up your mind! Thanks for reading, and don't forget, use the code BWOXTENDXX for $20 off and 3 years Extended Warranty! Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  2. My Watch is Fogging Up! What Do I Do??

So, you bought yourself a Casio watch, and you've noticed it start to fog up. Annoying isn't it? You think to yourself, 'Did I get scammed? Is this a counterfeit watch?' This is Jimmy B, and I'm here to lay your fears to rest!

First up, you should be assured, ALL Casio Watches are water resistant, so you don't need to worry that water's starting to get inside. However, the glass underneath the display has a bubble of air inside it. That's not a fault, it's put there on purpose, and it acts as a first layer of defense, so the water doesn't get through.

Saying that though, there is a small down side. If you go into a cold room, and then a warm room (or vice versa), you WILL see the watch fog up. Again though, that is totally normal, and after about 5-10 minutes, the fogging will clear up on its own. Casio Australia actually recommends waiting up to 2 hours before calling to say it's a fault and sending the watch back (especially since by the time they receive it, the fogging is usually already gone).

Now, while I've got your attention, I do want to point out something else Casio advises. Even though the watch IS water resistant, you should not have it on you when in the shower, or when washing the dishes. Why? Because running water does reduce the stability of the seal, since it's not exactly an equal pressure.

So, there you have it. Next time you get a watch and you notice it fog up, be patient, it's more likely that it's the bubble of air, which will resolve itself soon.

Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  3. Ho Ho Ho Part 1: G-Shocks For Christmas!

It's almost that time of the year again, where people are struggling to figure out what to buy for Christmas (whether for themselves, or their loved ones). This year, more than any other, stress is the last thing that should be on our minds. Just like Santa, I have two lists, and this first one is for the top 10 G-Shocks to give this Christmas. Ready? ho! Ho! HO!

    ga-2000-5a

    10) GA-2000-5A - This large watch comes with a Carbon Core Guard, that protects the face. The analogue hands and hour markers are extra thick, making them easy to read, and there's even a hand shift feature, if the hands are getting in the way of the digital display. Don't like the colour of the band? Simply unclip it, and put on a different one! This is Casio's first model with easily replaceable bands (no more need to fiddle with pliers and screwdrivers!

    GW-B5600BC-1B

    9) GWB5600BC-1B - Looking a lot like the classic G-5600E-1, this model is a much needed upgrade. Keeping the all digital display, which allows you to easily see the numbers day or night, the watch also connects to your phone via Bluetooth, so you can set the time, find your phone, and set any reminders. The band itself is a combination of steel and resin, making it much sturdier, and harder to damage.

    ggb-100-1a9

    8) GGB100-1A9 - a new version of the Casio Mudmaster series, this is a touch more expensive than the Economical GG-1000 series, but more affordable than the GWG1000. The first Mudmaster to include Bluetooth, the watch also comes with an altimiter. Best of all, when it's connected to your phone, you'll be able to keep track of where you are thanks to the GPS.

    dw-9052gbx-1a9 (1)

    7) DW9052GBX-1A9 - a visual upgrade for the DW9052 series, this is an affordable digital watch, that's very easy to read. Unlike many other G-Shocks on this list, this one is actually small enough for kids to wear, so it'll be a great Christmas present!

    g-2900f-1v_l_1

    6) G2900F-1V - This is another for kids and adults alike. With a circular screen, the time is even easier to see, and the screen isn't cluttered like the more advanced G-Shocks. It's got 200m water resistance, so you can go swimming with it, and even the rare eData Memory, letting you record internet access codes, or pin numbers, etc.

    ga-700cm-8a

    5) GA700CM-8A - Part of G-Shocks exercise watches, the GA700CM-8A is a camouflage watch that's easy to read, and perfect for all those fitness fanatics. It has a rare type of stopwatch that lets you input a target time, so when you're doing laps, you can try to beat your fastest time.

    gw-9400-1_l

    4) GW-9400-1 - The Rangeman is consistently one of the top watches bought, and it's easy to see why - It's solar powered, fully digital, has a compass, altimeter, barometer and thermometer. A perfect gift for hikers. IT's also 200m water resistant, so you can go swimming with it. Lastly, if you're in China, Japan, Germany, UK or the USA, the watch will automatically adjust the time.

    gmw-b5000d-1-1 (1)

    3) GMWB5000D-1 - This 35th year Full Metal Bluetooth Limited Edition watch has absolutely shocked us with how popular it is. It's fully digital, solar powered, and Bluetooth enabled. That last part is really important because unlike the Rangeman (which can only automatically set the time in certain cities), you'll be able to automatically set your time just by connecting to your phone! And the solar power means you don't have to worry about changing the battery!

    gwg1000-1a3

    2) GWG1000-1A3 - The Mudmaster is one of the original Master of G watches. To be recognised as a Master of G, the watch needs to be the best in its class, and the GWG1000 series is definitely that! Even before taking into account that it's solar powered, durable, easy to read thanks to the analogue hands and markers being extra-large... It should actually be called Weathermaster, because it's resistant to all sorts of bad weather. Even if you're in bootcamp, crawling in the mud, the watch will not be affected.

    ga100-1a4_xlarge

    1) GA100-1A4 - The GA-100 series revolutionised the Analogue/Digital watch models, and while the 1A2 sometimes sells a bit more, my personal pick would be the 1A4. It's easy to read with a black on white display, and it includes the 1/1000-sec stopwatch, which can even accurately measure your speed! Plus it's resistant to magnetic waves, so you can take it anywhere!

That's almost all from me, but before I go, I thought I'd give you a gift for reading through all this. When you choose the watch (or watches) you're after, at the final checkout screen type the code BWOXTENDXX. This will give you $20 off each item in your cart (not just $20 off the total), and 3 years Extended Warranty!

Until Next Time - Ho Ho HO!

  4. What Type of Watch Band and Clasps are there?

The Different Type of Watch Bands & Clasps

Welcome back to Jimmy B’s Guide to watches. In this article, we’re going to be looking at all the different types of bands and clasps, so I won’t just be limiting myself to Casios, but will include Citizens and Seikos. Ready? Let’s Get To It!

First up, let’s have a look at the most common watch band, that’s present in 90% of all of our Casios, the Resin band. This was created with the G-Shock, because the material was shown to be scratch resistant (which will help ensure your watch always looks new). These watch bands typically use buckles to fasten the watch to your wrist. The most popular watches with these bands are the GA-100, GA-110, and GA-700 series. You can also find them on every one of Casio’s Baby-G series.

Apart from being easy to put on and hard to damage, the resin bands are easy to clean, which is great if you’ve got a light coloured band. A lot of people have complained that the colours get either muted or just go brown from white. However, that’s just the sweat and grime that’s associated with you wearing the watch for long periods of time. Click Here for our handy guide on how to clean your band.

The second major type of band is the stainless Steel band. This is found in a lot of different watches, specifically the G-Steels, as well as our Citizen and Seiko range. The stainless steel band gives the watch a more classic feel, and some of our buyers say they prefer that look over the look of the resin bands.

Now, with this band, there’s actually multiple types of clasps. The most popular being the Safety Clasp found in the Citizen BN0194-57E. We’ve also got the Push Button in the Titanium AW1240-57L. Why would you want that type of band? Well as I mentioned it looks slicker than the Resin Band, but the clasp itself is actually safer. With the buckles, if the band gets undone, the watch will just fall on the floor, while with the metal Push Button and Safety Clasp, you would have to unbuckle it fully to get the watch off your wrist. Safer and avoids accidents.

Some people prefer the feel of Leather bands. They’re not as cold on your skin as the metal bands, nor do they feel as hard as the resin band. They also give your watch a more classic feel, such as with the Citizen BJ7007-02L or the G-Steel GSTS130L-1A. These watches have the same buckle you’d find in the Resin bands.

    leather-watch-strap-500x500

Now then, say you enjoy swimming or diving. You don’t want your watch to fall off your wrist. That’s where the rubber bracelet bands come in. You can find them in watches like the Seiko SKX009K1. The reason they’re popular is when you dive, the watch actually tightens around your wrist, making it practically impossible for it to fall off, unless you purposely try to yourself.

    CB01-A-2

The Rubber bracelets use what’s known as a deployment clasp. Basically to open the bracelet you need to pull the joined ends apart (making it look kind of like a butterfly clasp). Like I mentioned, it is very hard to get that off your wrist accidentally.

    1521-NATO-Green-2

Finally, for those who don’t like leather or metal, or even plastic, we’ve got nylon bands. They use the buckles just like resin and leather bands, but they feel a lot softer on your wrist. The best example of this would be the Citizen AW5005-21Y.

There you have it, the different types of watch bands that you get with your watches. If you want to know how to replace the watch band you’ve got for something different, click here, but be careful since it could cause you to void the warranty!

  5. Introducing, the Casio G-Shock GW-B5600 Range!

Introducing, the Casio G-Shock GW-B5600 Range!

If you're a Casio Collector, you already know all about the GMW-B5000 Series. Casio's flagship (and pretty much most expensive) series of Bluetooth Solar watches. Here at BuyWatchesOnline, we strive to bring you timepieces that are not only innovative, but also affordable, so we jumped at the chance to bring in the GW-B5600 Range. Ready to hear all about it? Then let's get to it!

First up, we've got the GW-B5600-2. This looks like, at first glance, the classig DW-5600 series watch. It's black, with a blue bezel and is also fully digital. The background is quite dark but still easy to read. The display is pretty large as well, making it easy to see the time.

    GW-B5600-2

Next up, the GW-B5600BC-1B. This is fully black, including the display itself. It's also got a composite band, made up of both hard resin and metal, to make it even harder to damage the watch.
    GW-B5600BC-1B
Finally we have the GW-B5600BC-1. Unlike the other two models, this one has a normal display, so if you don't like a black displa, then this is a good watch to get. The watch itself is mostly black, with golden outer layer.
    GW-B5600BC-1
So, now that we know what's on the outside, let's see how these watches perform!

So, as mentioned they look like your ordinary DW-5600E (one of the first ever Casio G-Shocks), but they have 3 advanced features. Firstly, they take their cues from the G-5600E series, which first introduced Tough Solar to these models. That's perfect for people who hate changing their battery. Just make sure to give the watch plenty of light, and you won't have to worry about it ever going flat.

Next up, Casio included a feature called Multi-Band 6. This is absolutely perfect for travellers, since it allows you to use one of 6 different satellites to always pick up the correct time, no matter where you are in the world. All you need to do is press a button, and the watch connects to its nearest satellite. And since this is atomic time, you're guaranteed to be correct, down to the millisecond.

But what happens if, somehow, the satellites are down, or the watch can't connect to them for some reason? (you know technology these days...), Well, that's where the third feature comes in. This watch has Bluetooth Connectivity through your phone. So, you can change the time with your phone, and it'll automatically be reflected on the watch!

Apart from these main features, I have to talk to you about the phone finder! If you're honest with yourself, there's gotta be a few times during the day where you stand up, leave the room and forget your phone. Or you left it somewhere and can't find it. And if you've got it on silent, that's an even bigger mess. Well, as long as your watch is connected to the phone via Bluetooth, you can get the ringtone to play even if you previously put the phone on silent!

Easy to use, looks good, nostalgic and, most importantly, AFFORDABLE! The GW-B5600 series is coming soon to BuyWatchesOnline! Until Next Time - Jimmy B
