  1. Coming Soon - The Transparent Casio G-Shock Series

Welcome back to our blog. As you've probably noticed by reading my articles, I list both the good and bad in my reviews. I prefer to be transparent, and now Casio has decided to adapt that approach, with their Transparent Series of G-Shocks. Let's see just what's in store for us soon.

    GA-2000SKE-8A_l

First up is the GA2000SKE-8A. This is a transparent grey version of the GA2000 series. Just like its original, the GA2000SKE has the added feature of interchangeable bands, so if you like the face but not the band, change it to any other band you've got. The hands are dark grey, while the hour markers are almost pitch black, but due to them looking thicker, you can still see the analogue time.

    GA-900SKE-8A_l

Next is the GA900SKE-8A. which has a larger digital screen, making it easy to see the time. Again, the band here is a transparent grey. You'll also notice that with both watches, the buttons like like they're kind of stuck in. That's to ensure that if you wear it while training, you won't accidentally activate a feature you don't want.

    GA-110SKE-8A_l

Finally, we have the GA110SKE-1A. Based on the popular GA110 series, the numbers do look a little brighter, but apart from that, the change is mostly aesthetic, with the addition of the transparent band.

So, we've got three cool new models, but what do they do? Well, let's go in order. For the GA2000SKE, it's one of the easiest to see in the dark, because of its heavy duty dual LED light feature. Unlike most ana/digi combos, the GA2000SKE has a seperate light for the analogue and digital faces. This takes care of the biggest complaint of ana/digi watches (that the backlight doesn't make it any easier to read the digital screen).

Another nice feature is the hand shift. As you can see, the hands are pretty thick, which can get in the way of the digital display. When you use the hand shift feature though the hands move to the 12 o'clock position, so you can clearly see the digital time. Once you're done, get out of the mode and the hands go back to where they're supposed to be (even accounting for the seconds/minutes between the hand shift feature, and back to timekeeping mode.

While the GA900SKE doesn't have dual LED Lights, it does have a super illuminator, which performs a similar function. The digital screen itself is also much bigger than the GA2000SKE, making it a better alternative if you're more interested in the digital time.

The watch also has a 7 year battery life, which is great if you hate changing batteries every few years.

Finally, the GA110SKE. The GA110, when it came out, revolutionised the way people see analogue/digital combo watches. And that innovation has stuck around. The GA110SKE has a 1/1000-sec stop watch, which is so accurate that judges for the Olympics use that sort of stop watch.

The watch also keeps its magnetic resistance, so electric and magnetic environments won't mess with the mechanisms inside.

There you have it, readers - The SKE Transparent Grey G-Shock series is coming soon to Buy Watches Online! Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  2. Coming Soon: Baseball Meet G-Shock With the New Era X G-Shock GM110NE-1A

At first glance, G-Shocks and Baseball have nothing in common, but if you think about it, this collaboration embodies what Casio G-Shocks are all about. New Era has been around for over 100 years now, and Casio's watches, they're tough enough to stick around just as long! In today's column, I'll be discussing the all new GM110NE-1A. Ready? Here We Go!

    GM-110NE-1A_l

Now, as you can see, right at the bottom of the band, it says 1920-2020. As mentioned, that is how long New Era has been supplying people with sportswear. Heck, the baseball cap design they created, has been around since 1954. I guess that's one difference though, between New Era and G-Shocks - Casio's designs evolve every so often.

The bezel is black ion plated, which protects the display even more than a stainless steel bezel. The hands and hour markers are gold, and the digital display is actually regular, not negative, which makes it easier to see the time.

The inside of the band is green, and looks like the inside of the New Era Cap. However, it also comes with a different band, which is semi transparent, and is easily interchangeable (so you can put on whichever band you feel like.

If that's not impressive enough, the gold plated back, with the New Era logo really makes it stand out from the pack. Now that we've talked about the looks, let's see what features we've got.

First up, this is based on the GA-110 series, which is automatically a great sign. It's not only 200m water resistant, as well as shock resistant, but it's also resistant to magnetic waves, making it stay accurate even around lots of electrical equipment.

Another great feature that carried over, is the 1/1000-sec stopwatch. This type of stopwatch is so accurate, the judges at the Olympics use one when timing athletes. There's even a speed measurement option, which can give you a rough estimate of your speed depending on how long each lap is.

As mentioned before, the watch is resistant to 200m water pressure, so if you feel like going for a swim, feel free to keep it on your wrist. As long as you don't press the buttons while submerged (or the watch is wet), this timeepiece will keep on ticking!

There you have it folks, the GM110NE-1A is coming soon, for a VERY limited time, to BuyWatchesOnline!

Until Next Time - Jimmy B!

  3. Coming Soon: The All New GM-CX Casio G-Shock Watches

Welcome back, and Happy New Year to all of our readers! Today, I'll be showcasing two new watches, built specifically for the Chinese New Year. These are the red and gold GM5600CX-4D and GM6900CX-4D. Both of these watches are bound to bring lots of eyes to your wrists. Ready? Here We Go!

    GM5600CX-4

The GM5600CX-4 is up first. It's got a red band with a gold bezel and buttons. The area before the display is a darker shade of purplish red, while the display itself is bright red with white numbers. It's kind of a strange version of a negative display, but it works! If you turn the watch around, the back of it has an Ox symbol, which commemorates the Chinese New Year of the Ox.

    GM6900CX

Then we have the GM6900CX-4. As you can see, the gold is quite a bit thicker here, and also encompasses the G button underneath the display (which is used to turn on/off the automatic backlight feature). The buttons here are thicker, and the display actually has 3 dials right above the digital time. Now, the background of these surroundings looks more pink than red, so it's also possible for girls to wear the watch as well.

Now that I've talked about the looks, let's see some of the features! First the GM5600CX. As you can see from the first picture, this one looks less busy when it comes to the display. Due to this, you can see the numbers more clearly as they're much larger than on other displays.

If you find yourself outside at night, and you can't see the time, simply press the light button, and the backlight will light up the entire screen.

Do you enjoy swimming? Leave the watch on, as it's able to withstand 200m of water pressure! Though just be careful not to press the buttons while submerged.

While the GM6900CX has most of the same features, you'll notice it has 3 starry dials right above the display. Those dials fill up when you're using specific watch functions, and can serve as a reminder that you may not have turned off a feature (helpful if you want to save battery power).

There you have it, the GM5600 and GM6900CX-4 Series are coming soon to Buy Watches Online! And remember, if you use the code BWOXTENDXX you'll get $20 off and 3 years Extended Warranty!

Until Next Time - Jimmy B!

  4. Coming Soon: The AW500E-1E - A Revival of Casio's First EVER G-Shock

Collectors, have we got a treat for you? Coming VERY soon to BuyWatchesOnline.com.au is a revived version of Casio's first ever G-Shock! If you're new to this series, let me tell you a little bit about what's on offer! Ready? Here We Go!

    aw500e-1e

So, as you can see here, this watch LOOKS pretty bare compared to most analogue/digital combos. For all those eagle eyed collectors, you'll also see this looks identical to the original watch, which is exactly what Casio was going for. The hands and hour markers are easy to read, and the digital display is dark, on a light background (something that makes the time easy to see on both bright and dark days.

One addition to the watch from the old days, is the hands and hour markers are treated with a Neobrite solution, which means they'll light up whenever it's dark (provided some light has hit the watch in the first place).

If you want to go swimming, but don't want to take the watch off, that's completely fine, as it's 200m water resistant. Just make sure that you don't touch any buttons until after the watch has completely dried off (and obviously not while swimming).

The last upgrade the watch has is its battery life. Instead of 2 years, this watch will last you 7 years before you need to change your batteries. Great Value for Money!

There you have it, the AW500E-1E is coming soon to BuyWatchesOnline!

Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  5. Coming Soon: The Limited Edition BAX-100 Baby-G Surfer Watch!

Ladies, (as well as some gentlemen), if you're into surfing, this article is sure to whet your appetite! The All New, Limited Edition BAX100 BABY-G Surfer Watch is coming, very soon, to BuyWatchesOnline.com.au! What's it all about? Let's take a look!

    BAX-100-1A

First up is the BAX100-1A. Analogue and digital, the hands and hour markers practically glow, making it easy to see during the day and at night. Since it's pretty much all black, with only a hint of pink/purple (The WR100BAR writing), boys can wear it too. The digital display, unlike most ana/digi combo models is standard, so you don't have to squint to make out the writing.

    bax100-3A

If you're a boy and uncomfortable with any pink, then the BAX100-3A is for you. A pastel green watch will look as manly on your wrist as any other! The buttons on the side are metallic, easy to find and use.

    bax100-7A

Finally, the BAX100-7A. Pretty much identical to the others, except it's white, though the pink writing might make the boys rethink their choice. Being fair in my reviews, I have to mention that white resin bands do get dirty pretty quickly, but they are very easy to clean.

So, now that we've got the looks cleared up, let's see some of the features.

First up, you'll notice that the watch has a new type of glass. It's called inorganic glass and is basically the next step up from Sapphire Glass. It's almost indestructible, and scratch proof, making sure your watch stays looking as good as the day you bought it!

As a surfing watch, this model comes with a tide graph. What that means is, you put in the time of low tide and high tide, and you can use the tide graph to find the approximate level of the tide at any time you want (perfect for preparing for surfing competitions)! If you're having difficulty working the graph, check out this handy guide.

Finally, we have a moon phase indicator, which is great not just for surfers, but for astronomers as well. This handy little screen (located between the 7 and 8 hour markers) shows a picture of what the moon will look like that night, so if you like star/moon gazing, it's a great tool to have.

The BAX100 series will only be available for a limited time, so get yours while stock is available! Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  6. Coming Soon The Casio G-Shock Metal AWM500D and DG series

Welcome back to our blog. Sometimes, you want a watch you can wear at a work function, or you want one that looks more expensive, in order to impress a friend. Well, pretty soon you'll get that, thanks to the AWM500D and AWM500DG Series. Wanna know what's in store for you with these watches? Let's Get To It!

    AWM500D-1A

First up is the AWM500D-1A. As you can see it's a no frills watch. Stainless steel band and bezel, with dark buttons on the sides for the different modes and functions. It's analogue and digital, with the hands and hour markers being a metallic grey, and the digital display in a stripe at the bottom (between the 5 and 7 hour markers).

    AWM500D-1A8

Next is the AWM500D-1A8. The shine is a bit darker on the band of this watch, but the analogue background is much lighter. Apart from that, the two watches are identical, it's just up to you if you prefer a lighter background, or a darker one.

    AWM500GD-1A

Finally, we have the AWM500GD-9A. This one is Gold Ion Plated, making it look very impressive. The hands and hour are also gold with a bit of red. For any history buffs or collectors out there, you might recognise the style of these watches, as they resemble the first ever Casio G-Shock watch! Despite its impressive array of features, the best thing (to me) is that the display is nowhere near as cluttered as some of the more modern watches.

Well, now that we've had a look at them, what can you do with these watches (aside from obviously telling the time)? First up, it's solar powered. This means you don't have to worry about changing the battery, just make sure the light hits the watch, and you'll be fine.

The hands and hour markers have been treated with a Neobrite substance. This means that at night, with a little exposure to the light, the hands and hour markers will glow in the dark, making it easier to see the time. It also has a dual LED, so both the analogue and digital part will start glowing.

With the hands being so thick, some people might worry that it'll make the digital time hard to see at certain points during the day. Well, thanks to the hand shift feature, that's not the case. One combination of button presses will put the hands in the 12 o'clock position, so you can see the digital time. When you turn off the hand shift feature, they'll move straight to where they were supposed to be.

Australia prides itself on its multiculturalism, and Casio has taken that into account. That's why they made an option to change the language on the day of the week. You can read it in Russian, English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.

There you have it. The AWM500 series is coming soon, to BuyWatchesOnline!

    Until Next Time

  7. Coming Soon - The GM110B-1A Casio G-Shock Watch

Welcome back to the Coming Soon Page - Today, I'll be previewing a brand new watch, that takes its cues almost entirely from the GA-110 Series, and then makes it even tougher! Ready? Here We Go!

    GM110B-1A_800x

This watch has an all black resin band and case. The bezel is the first place where the GM110B differs from the GA-110; It's stainless steel, making it a lot harder to damage. As you've no doubt noticed, the GM110B-1A has very glossy buttons and bezel. Inside the display... well it's kind of like if you've gone to a disco and seen the ever changing strobing lights. The dials are all a mixture of blue, green and purple, so they're certain to get people's attention!

Now let's talk features! If you've ever had a GA-100 or a GA-110, you'll know how good the stopwatch is. It's 1/1000-sec (which is so accurate even judges at the Olympics and Tour de France use a 1/1000-sec stopwatch to get the athlete's most accurate time). Well, have no fear - just because the watch is a GM instead of GA, Casio kept in the powerful stopwatch.

Another feature making the cut is the speed indicator. Simply program the stopwatch with the distance you're running, and when you're done, it will give you an approximate idea of how fast you actually got there.

All G-Shocks are 100m shock resistant, they're also a minimum of 100m water resistant... however, some Casios go above and beyond that protection level. The GM110B-1A is one of those few, and it includes magnetic resistance. Basically, this means even if you work in a place where there's lots of electromagnetic interference, your watch will still work normally.

The GM110B is coming very soon, to BuyWatchesOnline

Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  8. Coming Soon - The GRB200 All New Gravitymaster Series

If you're a fan of the Gravitymaster series, but thought it was always missing something... I'm honestly wondering if you'll have any nits to pick with this latest series! Apart from not being Solar, the GR-B200s have everything you can think of! Don't believe me? Let's have a look and decide for yourselves!

    GRB200-1A

First up, we've got the black GRB200-1A. Black band, metallic bezel, and the inside of the display is a mixture of black (digital display) and white hands and hour markers, so big that anybody will be able to read them. The buttons on the side are metallic, and a mixture of silver, black and red. Fun fact for those of you who aren't pilots, the 3 buttons on the right are arranged in the same pattern as a helicopter control stick.

    GRB200-1A2

Next up is the GRB200-1A2. It's still mostly black, but the band is blue, as well as the seconds hand.

    GRB200-1A9

Finally, there's the GRB200-1A9, which looks like the GA-1000-4A on steroids. The hour markers and seconds hand, as well as the band, all the way to the writing on some of the buttons are bright orange.

So, now that we've seen the watches, let's find out what they can do! The first thing you'll realise, is apart from your usual 100m shock and 200m water resistance, this watch is also protected against vibrations. Considering the Gravitymaster is a pilot's watch, that's definitely a great idea to have! The glass itself is a mixture of mineral and spherical glass, to make it hard to damage.

So, those who know me by now, realise as a reviewer, I usually hate negative displays (white on a black background). This time, I have no complaints, thanks to the handy Double LED light, which can light up both your analogue AND digital displays, making them much easier to read.

Setting your watch can be rather tough, especially if it has a lot of features. Casio took that into account as well, so the watch comes with a Bluetooth connectivity feature. As soon as you press connect, and connect your mobile/tablet to the watch, you can set the time on the phone, and the watch will mirror that down to the second.

Being a pilot sometimes means you have to be pretty fit, so Casio introduced a step tracker in these latest sets of Gravitymasters. You can even set an alarm so you'll know if you're running behind on your steps.

The last feature I want to talk to you about is the sensor. It's got a compass, barometer, altimeter and thermometer, ensuring you can be prepared, for any situation!

The GRB200 Series is Coming Soon to BuyWatchesOnline!

Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  9. Coming Soon: The DW-6900LS Casio G-Shock Series!

Welcome back to my Coming Soon column! Today I'll be previewing the DW6900LS Casio G-Shock Series. Now, this is based on the original DW-6900 design, but as the saying goes - If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Ready? Here We Go!

    ezgif.com-gif-maker (9)

First up is the DW-6900LS-1. As you can see in the picture above, while the -1 code suggests a black watch, thanks to the transparency of the band it looks more grey. The bezel is orange and green, with a negative digital display (which means white writing on a black background).

    ezgif.com-gif-maker (10)

Then we've got the blue transparent DW6900LS-2. This has quite a mixture of blue colours on the band (even the writing is blue). The shades range from light to dark blue, while the bezel shades are lime green, to khaki. The buttons on the watch also mix between light and dark blue, with the display again being negative.

So, now that we've seen what the watch looks like, let's talk features. First up, I mentioned the negative display twice, because quite a few people say they're hard to read. Well thanks to this watch being fully digital, you won't have to worry. Just turn on the backlight, and the display is fully visible.

Another great fringe benefit of having a digital watch, is the display doesn't need room for too many dials, so it can afford to make the digital numbers larger. This is great for anyone who has trouble with their eyesight.

Being a part of Casio's G-Shock range, you know the watch is hard to damage. it has 100m shock resistance, as well as 200m water resistance. Please note however, you do NOT want to push any buttons while you're swimming. I'd also recommend not going into the shower with the watch because running water ends up corroding the seal.

The DW6900LS series is coming soon to BuyWatchesOnline!

    Until Next Time

  10. Coming Soon: The Casio G-Shock GBDH1000, Heart Rate Monitor Watch!

Look out Polar, and Garmin, Casio's about to muscle in on your territory in a big way, with the all new G-Squad G-Shock GBDH1000 Heart Rate Monitor Series Watches. This series has been one we've been eager to get our hands on, and word on the street is, they'll be in our stores sooner than later! So, let's find out what they're all about - Ready? Here We Go!!

Let's see what the watches look like first. You'll have to bear with me, because this model comes in a whopping SIX different colour schemes. First up is the GBDH1000-1

    GBDH1000-1

As you can see, this one is basic black. However you'll notice that it's fully digital, and a little bit different than the usual Casio Screen. That's because the screen is a LED Display, that's a lot easier to see, day or night. The bezel is also stainless steel instead of just plain resin, meaning it's a lot sturdier.

    Next up, is the GBDH1000-1A4

    GBDH1000-1A4

This model has a black band, but the surroundings are orange, a little bit of rose gold, and gold screws keeping everything together.

    Then we've got the GBDH1000-1A7

    GBDH1000-1A7

This one has three colours, (Black bezel, white band, and the edges of the band are actually a lime green.

If Red is more your colour, we've got the GBDH1000-4

    GBDH1000-4

This is red, with a blueish bezel. Since the Bezel is stainless steel, it makes both colours stand out.

Next up is a pattern that may look familiar to those of you who liked the GA700SK, it's the transparent GBDH1000-7A9

    GBDH1000-7A9

As you can see, this looks a lot like the 1A7, but instead of being solid, the bezel is see-through. Combined with the green highlights, the watch draws your eye as successfully as the GBDH1000-4

Finally we have the grey GBDH1000-8

    GBDH1000-8

As with the 1000-1 it takes the no frills approach, although it does add red buttons to and writing for a splash of colour. All of these models are fully digital, and thanks to the LED Display, for once it doesn't matter at all that they have a negative display.

Now then, let's talk FEATURES! Because there's so many to get through, I'll ignore the obvious ones you get with every G-Shock (100M Shock and 200M Water Resistance) and get straight to what makes the GBDH-1000 series stand apart from anything that came before it!

When you think heart rate monitor watches, where does your mind go to? For me, it's those bulky Polar watches. Not only did mine not fit very well, but having the strap around my chest made it quite distracting when I tried to exercise. With Casio, you can forget about it, since there's no strap!

So how do you get the heart rate? Good question! The GBDH1000 is sensitive enough to pick up your heart rate straight from your wrist!

Another cool feature is, you can set a goal heart rate before you train, and if you don't reach the heart rate, the watch will let you know thanks to the daily logs it creates! Yes, that's right, the watch is perfect for helping you with fitness by keeping a detailed log of all your movements. It's even got a GPS and pedometer so you'll be able to see how many KMs you've run, and how many steps you've taken.

Now, you might be getting a bit worried. I mean, these are really good features, but they sound like they'd drain the batteries, and you don't really want to buy a new battery, a few months after you get your new watch, right? Well, lucky for you, Casio feels the same way! Not only is the watch recharged by light but, for the first time EVER in a Casio Watch, you can plug it into your computer, or your phone charger, and it'll charge the watch right up! No more going to the jewellers and replacing the batteries.

If those features weren't enough for you, I can also tell you that the watch has a compass, altimeter, barometer and thermometer, so you can use it while camping as well. It's like a multitool, but one that you can wear on your wrist, and you don't have to worry about cutting yourself.

The GDB-H1000 Series is coming soon to BuyWatchesOnline!

    Until Next Time
