  1. Coming Soon - The GBA900 Casio G-Shock G-Squad Series

With the G-Squads being so popular, Casio has decided to keep improving them, and the next step in this iteration is the GBA900 series! I was lucky enough to sample them, so let's find out just what makes these watches tick! Ready? Here We Go!

    GBA-900-1A

First up is the GBA900-1A. This is your most basic model in terms of colouring, everything is pitch black, apart from the grey hands and the digital display. The buttons are extra-large, making them easy to press. The digital display is set up to not interfere with the analogue hands, but if you feel they are still interfering, you can temporarily adjust the hands (but I'll get to that in a few paragraphs).

    GBA-900-1A6

Next up is the GBA900-1A6. While also black, this model does add quite a bit of colour, with the purple guards on the band, as well as the blue hour markers, making it easier to see the analogue time day or night.

    GBA-900-4a

The GBA900-4A is next on our list, though I wouldn't blame you for thinking it's the GA800-4A since they look so similar. Unlike the GA800 though, this model has a dial at the top showing you when Bluetooth is switched on or off.

    GBA-900-7A

Finally, we have the GBA900-7A. This is completely white, apart from the black background, and writing on the band.

So, that's the descriptions over with, but let's see what these babies can do?! For those of you not familiar, the B in GBA stands for Bluetooth. This already means your watch will be connected to the phone any time you wish. Unlike the G-Shock app you would usually use though, these watches need to have the app Move installed.

The Move App is specifically designed for exercise watches. With it, you can set up training plans, and keep up with your steps, past laps, and easily measure your progress. The first step in improving is to know your strengths and weaknesses, which is what the Move App will help you with!

Another great Bluetooth function is, when you connect the phone to your watch, you can be anywhere in the world, and the watch will automatically pick up the time zone, and adjust the time to what's needed.

Now, I mentioned earlier about moving the hands. That's possible thank to Casio's Hand Shift feature, which moves the hands to the 12 o'clock position, ensuring they don't get in the way when you're exercising.

An interesting feature that's usually only made available to Solar watches, the GBA900 now has a power saving mode, and an alert to let you know if your battery is close to dying. That's a great idea as it lets you prepare and get a new battery without needing to worry that your watch will stop at any second.

The GBA900 series is coming soon to BuyWatchesOnline!

  2. Coming Soon - The Casio G-Steel, Snakeskin Watch, GSTB-300WLP-1A

Welcome back to the upcoming models section, and boy have we got a good one coming soon. It's a G-Steel watch that has, among other features, a 1/1000-sec stopwatch (one of the most accurate in the world, that's even used to judge Olympic sports!)

    ezgif.com-gif-maker (24)ezgif.com-gif-maker (25)

Now. the first thing you'll definitely notice is, the metallic bezel is decorated in strange colours. The wildlife enthusiasts among you will know, those colours depict the skin of the African Rock Python. Not only that, the box that this watch comes in, is also decorated in the matching colour tones. This is an analogue/digital watch, with the numbers and hour markers in a bronze colour, making them pop and be a lot more visible.

Like I said though, those are just the looks, but now let's see what features we have to play with? Firstly, it's a Bluetooth watch. The Mobile Link feature allows you to connect the watch to your phone, to make sure your time is always right. No more need to manually change the home city, simply make sure Bluetooth is switched on in your phone!

A cool lesser known feature with the Bluetooth is, if you've lost your phone, you can turn on a feature on the watch, and as long as you're in range, your phone will start ringing (at full volume, overriding the silent mode).

The watch is also solar powered, which is quite helpful if you hate changing your battery every few years. Thing is, solar powered is actually underselling the usefulness of this feature, because you don't even need the sunlight to charge your watch! ANY light source will do. Sun obviously charges the watch faster, but if you leave it under a light at night, by the time you wake up, the watch should be pretty much at full power.

One of the things people hate about analogue/digital combo watches is, the digital display doesn't have a very good backlight. This is fixed in the GSTB-300WLP, thanks to a dual LED Light (one for the analogue display, the other for digital).

If you're a fitness fanatic, or simply like to jog and keep up with your times, you know how important it is to have an unimpeded view of the stopwatch. with the hands being so large, if they ever get in your way, you can turn on the hand shift feature, to move the hands to the 12 o'clock position, giving you an unobstructed view. Afterwards, disable the feature and the hands go back to where they should have been.

The GSTB300WLP is coming very soon to BuyWatchesOnline

  3. Coming Soon - The GBDH1000 Heart Rate Monitor G-Shock Watch

You demanded it, and we're getting it VERY SHORTLY! The GBDH1000 Heart Rate Monitor watch combines the latest in fitness technology, without the need for a bulky chest band! I'm really excited to share what this series has to offer, so without further ado, let's get to it!

    GBDH1000-1A

First up, the GBDH1000-1A. This is a solid black watch, with a black band, bezel, and an extra-large digital screen. As you can see, the screen shows the time, your heart rate, distance walked/ran and your pace (which is how long a km would take at your current speed - but we'll talk about that later on).

    GBDH1000-1A4

Next up is the GBDH1000-1A4. While it has a black band too, the bezel is transparent grey, with gold screws, and orange writing. The band itself, along with the buttons are peppered with orange and caramel colours.

    GBDH1000-1A7

Then we've got the GBDH1000-1A7. While we're used to any model starting with 1 to be black, this watch shakes things up a bit. the bezel is black, but the band is white with a bit of lime green.

    GBDH1000-4

The GBDH1000-4A is next on this list. It's almost fully red, apart from the dark blue bezel. One interesting thing about all of these watches (and the ones that'll follow), is the band kind of looks like a set of claws, clamping onto the bezel. Definitely makes for a unique look.

    GBDH1000-7A9

The GBDH1000-7A9 is almost a carbon copy of the 1A7, with the only differences being the bezel is transparent grey. The green parts here are a bit more prominent, going onto the buttons themselves to match the motif.

    GBDH1000-8

Finally, we have the GBDH1000-8. This one is a darkey shade of grey, making it less transparent. It's got red and black buttons, with red writing on the outside of the display. Now, one thing I should mention is, unlike the other watches I've reviewed, these ones ALL have a negative display. That's not a bad thing in this case, though. Well, now that we're done staring at these beauties, let's have a look at what they actually do.

This first part is self explanatory - they're heart rate monitor watches. To accurately measure your heart rate without any chest strap, they use an optical sensor. In layman's terms, they use light, to measure tissue change (when your heart rate is high, there's less light, and when it's low there's more). This was created by a company called FIRSTBEAT, which was made specifically to keep track of your running information.

Another feature that they have come up with is your pace. After running/walking for a bit, the watch uses the GPS to generate information on how long it'll take you to do a Kilometre at your current pace. I took it out for a test run, and it was accurate to the second, always taking your new speed into account when you go faster.

Now, if you're familiar with the GBA800 series, the GBD800, as well as the countless female step counter watches, you might think there's nothing that can surprise you, but Casio has outdone themselves. You can download your entire step history since you started using the watch. So you can see exactly how many steps you took every day, as well as create a fitness plan based on your past results.

This covers the exercise part of the features, but there are plenty of other features. The watch is rechargeable in two ways. Firstly it's solar powered, so all you have to do is have it in the sunlight and you won't lose power. Secondly, if you're anywhere near a computer (or your smart phone charger) you can plug the watch in, and it charges up.

The watch includes plenty of exploring features, such as a GPS, which ensures you don't get lost. It also has a digital compass, barometer, altimeter and thermometer. If you need to set an alarm, it also has a vibrating function if you want to keep it on silent.

The GBDH1000 Series has been long requested, and will be coming very soon to BuyWatchesOnline! Don't forget to take advantage of our $20 off voucher, by using the code BWOXX118 before you check out.

Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  4. Coming Soon - The Transparent Casio G-Shock Series

Welcome back to our blog. As you've probably noticed by reading my articles, I list both the good and bad in my reviews. I prefer to be transparent, and now Casio has decided to adapt that approach, with their Transparent Series of G-Shocks. Let's see just what's in store for us soon.

    GA-2000SKE-8A_l

First up is the GA2000SKE-8A. This is a transparent grey version of the GA2000 series. Just like its original, the GA2000SKE has the added feature of interchangeable bands, so if you like the face but not the band, change it to any other band you've got. The hands are dark grey, while the hour markers are almost pitch black, but due to them looking thicker, you can still see the analogue time.

    GA-900SKE-8A_l

Next is the GA900SKE-8A. which has a larger digital screen, making it easy to see the time. Again, the band here is a transparent grey. You'll also notice that with both watches, the buttons like like they're kind of stuck in. That's to ensure that if you wear it while training, you won't accidentally activate a feature you don't want.

    GA-110SKE-8A_l

Finally, we have the GA110SKE-1A. Based on the popular GA110 series, the numbers do look a little brighter, but apart from that, the change is mostly aesthetic, with the addition of the transparent band.

So, we've got three cool new models, but what do they do? Well, let's go in order. For the GA2000SKE, it's one of the easiest to see in the dark, because of its heavy duty dual LED light feature. Unlike most ana/digi combos, the GA2000SKE has a seperate light for the analogue and digital faces. This takes care of the biggest complaint of ana/digi watches (that the backlight doesn't make it any easier to read the digital screen).

Another nice feature is the hand shift. As you can see, the hands are pretty thick, which can get in the way of the digital display. When you use the hand shift feature though the hands move to the 12 o'clock position, so you can clearly see the digital time. Once you're done, get out of the mode and the hands go back to where they're supposed to be (even accounting for the seconds/minutes between the hand shift feature, and back to timekeeping mode.

While the GA900SKE doesn't have dual LED Lights, it does have a super illuminator, which performs a similar function. The digital screen itself is also much bigger than the GA2000SKE, making it a better alternative if you're more interested in the digital time.

The watch also has a 7 year battery life, which is great if you hate changing batteries every few years.

Finally, the GA110SKE. The GA110, when it came out, revolutionised the way people see analogue/digital combo watches. And that innovation has stuck around. The GA110SKE has a 1/1000-sec stop watch, which is so accurate that judges for the Olympics use that sort of stop watch.

The watch also keeps its magnetic resistance, so electric and magnetic environments won't mess with the mechanisms inside.

There you have it, readers - The SKE Transparent Grey G-Shock series is coming soon to Buy Watches Online! Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  5. Coming Soon: Baseball Meet G-Shock With the New Era X G-Shock GM110NE-1A

At first glance, G-Shocks and Baseball have nothing in common, but if you think about it, this collaboration embodies what Casio G-Shocks are all about. New Era has been around for over 100 years now, and Casio's watches, they're tough enough to stick around just as long! In today's column, I'll be discussing the all new GM110NE-1A. Ready? Here We Go!

    GM-110NE-1A_l

Now, as you can see, right at the bottom of the band, it says 1920-2020. As mentioned, that is how long New Era has been supplying people with sportswear. Heck, the baseball cap design they created, has been around since 1954. I guess that's one difference though, between New Era and G-Shocks - Casio's designs evolve every so often.

The bezel is black ion plated, which protects the display even more than a stainless steel bezel. The hands and hour markers are gold, and the digital display is actually regular, not negative, which makes it easier to see the time.

The inside of the band is green, and looks like the inside of the New Era Cap. However, it also comes with a different band, which is semi transparent, and is easily interchangeable (so you can put on whichever band you feel like.

If that's not impressive enough, the gold plated back, with the New Era logo really makes it stand out from the pack. Now that we've talked about the looks, let's see what features we've got.

First up, this is based on the GA-110 series, which is automatically a great sign. It's not only 200m water resistant, as well as shock resistant, but it's also resistant to magnetic waves, making it stay accurate even around lots of electrical equipment.

Another great feature that carried over, is the 1/1000-sec stopwatch. This type of stopwatch is so accurate, the judges at the Olympics use one when timing athletes. There's even a speed measurement option, which can give you a rough estimate of your speed depending on how long each lap is.

As mentioned before, the watch is resistant to 200m water pressure, so if you feel like going for a swim, feel free to keep it on your wrist. As long as you don't press the buttons while submerged (or the watch is wet), this timeepiece will keep on ticking!

There you have it folks, the GM110NE-1A is coming soon, for a VERY limited time, to BuyWatchesOnline!

Until Next Time - Jimmy B!

  6. My Watch is Fogging Up! What Do I Do??

So, you bought yourself a Casio watch, and you've noticed it start to fog up. Annoying isn't it? You think to yourself, 'Did I get scammed? Is this a counterfeit watch?' This is Jimmy B, and I'm here to lay your fears to rest!

First up, you should be assured, ALL Casio Watches are water resistant, so you don't need to worry that water's starting to get inside. However, the glass underneath the display has a bubble of air inside it. That's not a fault, it's put there on purpose, and it acts as a first layer of defense, so the water doesn't get through.

Saying that though, there is a small down side. If you go into a cold room, and then a warm room (or vice versa), you WILL see the watch fog up. Again though, that is totally normal, and after about 5-10 minutes, the fogging will clear up on its own. Casio Australia actually recommends waiting up to 2 hours before calling to say it's a fault and sending the watch back (especially since by the time they receive it, the fogging is usually already gone).

Now, while I've got your attention, I do want to point out something else Casio advises. Even though the watch IS water resistant, you should not have it on you when in the shower, or when washing the dishes. Why? Because running water does reduce the stability of the seal, since it's not exactly an equal pressure.

So, there you have it. Next time you get a watch and you notice it fog up, be patient, it's more likely that it's the bubble of air, which will resolve itself soon.

Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  7. Coming Soon: The All New GM-CX Casio G-Shock Watches

Welcome back, and Happy New Year to all of our readers! Today, I'll be showcasing two new watches, built specifically for the Chinese New Year. These are the red and gold GM5600CX-4D and GM6900CX-4D. Both of these watches are bound to bring lots of eyes to your wrists. Ready? Here We Go!

    GM5600CX-4

The GM5600CX-4 is up first. It's got a red band with a gold bezel and buttons. The area before the display is a darker shade of purplish red, while the display itself is bright red with white numbers. It's kind of a strange version of a negative display, but it works! If you turn the watch around, the back of it has an Ox symbol, which commemorates the Chinese New Year of the Ox.

    GM6900CX

Then we have the GM6900CX-4. As you can see, the gold is quite a bit thicker here, and also encompasses the G button underneath the display (which is used to turn on/off the automatic backlight feature). The buttons here are thicker, and the display actually has 3 dials right above the digital time. Now, the background of these surroundings looks more pink than red, so it's also possible for girls to wear the watch as well.

Now that I've talked about the looks, let's see some of the features! First the GM5600CX. As you can see from the first picture, this one looks less busy when it comes to the display. Due to this, you can see the numbers more clearly as they're much larger than on other displays.

If you find yourself outside at night, and you can't see the time, simply press the light button, and the backlight will light up the entire screen.

Do you enjoy swimming? Leave the watch on, as it's able to withstand 200m of water pressure! Though just be careful not to press the buttons while submerged.

While the GM6900CX has most of the same features, you'll notice it has 3 starry dials right above the display. Those dials fill up when you're using specific watch functions, and can serve as a reminder that you may not have turned off a feature (helpful if you want to save battery power).

There you have it, the GM5600 and GM6900CX-4 Series are coming soon to Buy Watches Online! And remember, if you use the code BWOXTENDXX you'll get $20 off and 3 years Extended Warranty!

Until Next Time - Jimmy B!

  8. Coming Soon: The AW500E-1E - A Revival of Casio's First EVER G-Shock

Collectors, have we got a treat for you? Coming VERY soon to BuyWatchesOnline.com.au is a revived version of Casio's first ever G-Shock! If you're new to this series, let me tell you a little bit about what's on offer! Ready? Here We Go!

    aw500e-1e

So, as you can see here, this watch LOOKS pretty bare compared to most analogue/digital combos. For all those eagle eyed collectors, you'll also see this looks identical to the original watch, which is exactly what Casio was going for. The hands and hour markers are easy to read, and the digital display is dark, on a light background (something that makes the time easy to see on both bright and dark days.

One addition to the watch from the old days, is the hands and hour markers are treated with a Neobrite solution, which means they'll light up whenever it's dark (provided some light has hit the watch in the first place).

If you want to go swimming, but don't want to take the watch off, that's completely fine, as it's 200m water resistant. Just make sure that you don't touch any buttons until after the watch has completely dried off (and obviously not while swimming).

The last upgrade the watch has is its battery life. Instead of 2 years, this watch will last you 7 years before you need to change your batteries. Great Value for Money!

There you have it, the AW500E-1E is coming soon to BuyWatchesOnline!

Until Next Time - Jimmy B

  9. What Does Casio Warranty Cover? Bonus - What Not To Do!

Welcome to a brand new year. We've got plenty of surprises in store for you for 2021, but first I wanted to cover a very important topic, that gets asked about a lot - WHAT does Casio Warranty cover?

So, you got your watch, it starts off working well, but you notice that the band is becoming dirty looking, or scratched. That's not covered unfortunately, because that's considered wear and tear. Same with if the band falls off (it shouldn't but after years of use it does happen), you would need to buy a new band.

What about if you buy a watch, that's promised to last 2 years, but only lasts one? or 6 months? Then the good news there is, you're definitely covered by Casio (and us). But, here's the most important thing that you can't do: You CANNOT go to a jeweller, and ask them to replace the battery. The second ANY jeweller that isn't SPECIFICALLY authorised by Shriro (Casio's arm in Australia) opens up the back of the watch, you can kiss the warranty goodbye. It doesn't matter if the battery replacement does nothing, Casio is so strict, they won't repair anything that's been touched by a jeweller, who wasn't specifically approved by Shriro Australia.

Another thing to keep in mind, is swimming. Casio watches are at least 100m water resistant (with most G-Shocks being 200m). That is very helpful when swimming, but you have to look at the fine print in the manual. When swimming, you cannot press buttons, either while submerged or while the watch is still wet. That really damages the seal, and Casio can tell if that's been done, which also voids your warranty.

Now, I know you're asking yourself, where would I go, to get my watch repaired? Unfortunately there's not a lot of Authorised centres, but here is the list, hopefully it'll help. Remember, if it's not listed, it's NOT Authorised so take it to your jeweller at your own risk:

If you live/can get to any of those 7 places, you're golden, but otherwise you just need to send the watch back to us.

Finally, I'll just discuss the difference between our warranty, and what most shops offer. With most shops, it's a 1 year warranty, where the watch is simply repaired. With us, you've got 2 years REPLACEMENT warranty, which means if the watch stuffs up at any time within the 2 years, you send it to us, we send it in to Casio and 90% of the time they supply us with a brand new watch. The only time they'd even attempt to repair the watch is if it's an easily fixable solution that would take 1-2 days at most.

There you have it readers, a comprehensive guide to Casio's Warranty Policy

  10. Best Casio Summer Watch 2020

Well, 2020 is almost over, so I figured we'd end this weird year on a slightly different note. That's why, I'll be talking about the best Summer Watch to get. Now, depending on what you like to do in the summer, that can be a huge range of watches, so if you're ready... Let's Get To It!

    bg169m-1

For the looks: Casio Baby-G BG-169M-1DR - If you want a summer watch that looks good, there's actually a few things that you need to think about; will it stay looking good? How heavy does it need to be? In this case, not heavy at all (only 46g) and it's hard to get a black band dirty, so ladies, if it's just for appearances, I'd recommend the simple BG-169M-1. The screen protectors also help make sure display doesn't get damaged.

    BSA-B100-7A

For Fitness (for kids): Casio Baby-G BSAB100-7A - Now, you'll notice I said for kids, and that's because there's another one coming for the adults as well, but let's start here first. The BSAB100-7A is a Bluetooth compatible watch, which will let you connect to the phone to set the exact time. On top of that, it's a fitness watch, with a pedometer, letting you keep an eye on how many steps you've done.

    gbd-800uc-8

For Fitness (for adults): Casio G-Shock GBD800UC-8 - For the adults version, I decided to go with the Digital version, the GBD800UC. That's only because it's a lot easier to read, and the screen is much larger, so you can easily keep an eye on your stopwatch or your steps, without needing to slow down.

    blx570-7

For Surfing (for kids): Casio Baby-G BLX570-7 - Again a Baby-G that boys and girls can wear, this is a great surfing watch. By putting in the low tide and high tide time, this watch can predict the tides for up to 12 hours, making it a very useful practice watch. Plus, it's digital, so if you have a hard time seeing the time, all you need to do is press the light button, and the entire screen gets lit up.

    g9100-1_xlarge

For Surfing (for adults): Casio Gulfman G-Shock G9100-1 - For our last watch, I went with the G-9100-1 for two reasons. First, because it's got a black band it's harder to scratch, so it'll stay looking newer for longer. Secondly, out of all of our digital watches, this has been the best seller to date. You can change the moon phase, set high tide and low tide, and thanks to the 200m water resistance, you can even swim with the watch on.

There you have it, our top Summer Watches. Until Next Time, Happy New Year - Jimmy B
